The latest United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) data shows that the UK is again the world’s 2nd largest exporter of services.

The latest release of data provides the results for 2022 and showed that the UK exported over £400 billion worth of services exports during 2022.

The UK has actually finished 2nd (behind the United States) in each year since 2005.

Currently, the top 5 services exported by the UK are other business services, financial services, travel services, telecoms, computer & information services, and transport services.

Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch said:

“These new figures are a trade success story and cement the UK’s position as a global services superpower. Services are the lifeblood of our economy, employing over 8 in 10 of our workforce. To see services trade reaching these heights is a firm reminder of the resilience of our strong services economy and shows significant progress in our race to export over a trillion pounds of British goods and services a year by 2030.”

There are fantastic opportunities for West Yorkshire businesses to build international partnerships and export their services across the world.
